Our Story
We are Bats for Barreto, a Non-Profit Organization bloomed from a simple softball tournament to bring together the family and friends of our beloved Jonathan Tomas Barreto, who we lost to suicide in 2019. Beginning with the intention to remember Jon and bring awareness to this epidemic while simply enjoying the game he loved most, we quickly realized the impact that single tournament had on those involved and wanted to continue the event to make a larger impact.

Bats for Barreto is so much more than softball. Even though we are newly established, it's our intention to host more events in different locations to expand our reach and give back to the community fighting stigmatized issue. In the little time running, we have held tournaments in two different states and have doubled our participation.
Jonathan Tomas Barreto was a Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle, dear-friend and volunteer fireman popularly known for his big heart and smile. His sudden exit was jarring not just for those closest to him but the community as well. We do this for him and all those carrying that camouflaged weight.
Our Mission
To bring Awareness and aid in the Prevention of Suicide thru community outreach and the love of softball.
Our Vision
The BFB Organization was founded to impact not just our immediate community but those beyond. We wish this foundation to be a source of hope. We are devoted to honoring those lost to suicide thru community outreach and organize based upon the core values we believe Jon Embodied.
